I had gotten to the school early and got a seat. I watched Ashlyn walk in with her class and sit down. She didn't see me right away and was looking all around with a worried expression on her face. And then she saw me...
Throughout the recorder portion of the concert (there was also singing and each student had a line to recite) Ashlyn played her recorder just as she had practiced. In between songs she looked up at the ceiling, her only concern was for the bird that had flown into the multi-use room and was perched high up near the ceiling as it listened to the tweets from the students recorders. I had to sign to Ashlyn that it was going to be "O.K."
Ashlyn said her memorized lines...
and then got ready to sing with her class...
Ashlyn loves to perform.

When I was leaving the school after the recorder concert I was just in time to see Landon passing out his birthday treats to his class.
His birthday isn't until August 27th but his teacher told all of the kids with summer birthdays that they could bring treats to celebrate.
I am just hoping that when school starts up at the end of August that he doesn't try to get me to bring treats again for his summer birthday. I can hear him now, "but I didn't bring treats for my birthday THIS year!" Not only am I not going to do two birthdays for each kid but his teacher is moving to second grade and is taking the majority of her class with her so all the kids will have already celebrated his birthday.

VERY cool pictures of the recorder concert! Ashlyn totally in focus and the rest of the kids blurred out. Nice!
