We are not heavily involved in the dance world. Ashlyn has taken only two classes and although she enjoys it we are not willing to allow it to take over our entire lives. So when I got the email saying that she needed to wear makeup for the performance so her face wouldn't be washed out on stage I was a little unprepared. I just figured she would put on her dance costume, I would curl her hair and off we would go. I was not prepared for makeup. I know it is "just makeup" and is ultimately not that big of a deal but she is only nine (and if you want to get technical she was actually still eight). So as we were getting ready we had a conversation about natural looking makeup that enhances your existing beauty as opposed to looking like Bozo the Clown.
She was completely fine with the natural look for which I am thankful. She was in love with her costume...

Ashlyn's class was the 14th performance and we got to watch many amazing and cute performances. One of our favorites was the little two and three year old tap performance. They were the cutest little munchkins!

(I will admit that any of the pictures I took of the performances before Ashlyn were really just me attempting to get the camera settings set up on my camera so I didn't end up with a bunch of blurry photos. No flash photography in a dark theater are not the easiest settings).
Ashlyn really liked the costumes in this performance...

And then Ashlyn's Jazz/Hip hop class was up!

This picture cracks me up. This little boy (the only one in her class) was supposed to spin Ashlyn and the girl on his right. Ashlyn is waiting for him to make his move.

I had no idea she was nervous either and I was very proud of her too.
Maybe you can look into theater for her. She most definitely as a special gift of getting into character!
Cute pics! I love when the really little ones dance. They are so precious. Your girl looks lovely!
