friends, fun and four square...

Hey all!  We had such a wonderful weekend.  Visiting with old friends, movies, picnics and fun.

My friend Amber was visiting from Oregon and we got to have lunch with her and her fiancé, Craig.

Such a cute couple!

We had such a great time with them.  It was all too short but I love visiting with them and getting to know Craig.  My kids love Amber!  Can't wait to see you again soon!!

After the lunch my mom and I went to see The Hunger Games!!!  OH. MY. GOSH.  SO GOOD!!!  Good grief, I am going to have to see it again...soon!

On Sunday after church we had a relaxing day including a picnic style dinner.  When Ashlyn heard that we were having a picnic she set out to arranging the entire thing.  She decided our picnic needed to have a beach theme complete with blankets, surf decor, every beach related stuffed animal the kids own, and a beach themed movie.  She and Landon decided that Swiss Family Robinson would fit the mood perfectly.

I think Ashlyn may have a future in event planning.

Chris made a yummy spread for us to eat...

have I mentioned how much he LOVES having his picture taken? heeheehee

I know I have mentioned Landon's current obsession with four square.  He can usually be found wandering around the house looking for someone to play four square with him.  Last night he got Ashlyn and daddy to play with him.

Landon tried really hard to get daddy out...

and daddy did a little trash talking...

and Basil and I watched the action from the window.

I think they had a great time!

Basil had a vet appointment yesterday to hopefully remedy her itchy skin problem.  She has been quite a mess lately between having hives, itching non-stop and splitting her ear open.  They had to take her in the back room and scrape some of the spots on her hair and ears to check for mites.  Poor Basil was whimpering and howling being in a cage in the back.  It made me so sad for her.  This is what her head looked like when we got home.  You can see the spots where she was scraped.
In addition to all of that, Chris noticed that she had a rather large lump on her neck.  We are talking the size of a ping pong ball.
Thankfully, the doctor tested it and it turns out it is from her vaccinations last week.  Whew.  That could have been very ugly and I don't think I am ready for another major dog surgery.  Another miracle - I left the vet for under $200!  With all the testing and all the allergy drugs they prescribed for her I thought for sure I wasn't going to leave there without paying a small fortune!  Guess God knew I wasn't ready for that either!

We have a busy week and then it is Spring break!  Woohoo!  The kids are going to spend the week with Memejo and I have all sorts for fun mom stuff planned including a whole day with my brother!  Yay!  Happy Spring break to me!
