friday again...

I am going to be totally honest and say that I am feeling a little out of sorts today.  Sometimes life feels heavier than others and today is one of those days.

Here are some instagram pics that I took this week...

beautiful flowers in my wonderful friend, Christy's, yard

When it was hot earlier this week I put Ashlyn's hair up in what Landon called, "princess Leia buns". photo1-2
She LOVED them and was even more happy when the next day she had beautiful waves...

I had another art lesson with Landon's class this week.  It went really well!  The kids had so much fun.  I am so glad his class is enjoying the projects I have for them.  I had Ashlyn and Landon make samples for me...photo1-3photo2-3
we were studying Paul Klee's "Head of Man" which involves geometric shapes, straight lines and angles.  I think they did a really good job...

Chris had a craving for Benihana this week and the kids were beyond excited.  We usually let them choose a restaurant to eat at on their birthdays and since they were little they would choose Benihana.  So little in fact that when Landon tried to tell us where he wanted to eat he used to say, "go to the place where the guy throw the shrimp in him hat"

Benihana was having a coloring contest for kids to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  The kids were supposed to draw a picture of them helping someone.  Here is Landon's picture of him helping his friend Jack...

After Chris determined that Landon was not helping Marge Simpson we were somewhat concerned that his friend is laying on the ground looking severely injured and Landon has a huge smile on his face.  He said he was just happy to be helping his friend.  I have to say I was glad that was the reason he was smiling and not because he was the one who had put his friend in that condition!

We got to visit with Craig on Saturday.  He was awake for a lot of our visit and we got to talk with him and take him for a walk.  Jenny took this picture later in the week.  This was one of the last times Craig was able to rub Elease's back as he has since lost the use of his left side as well as his right.

While we were visiting we got to see a picture of Chris' dad when he was a little boy.  The resemblance to Landon when he was little is almost unbelievable!

Chris made the most delicious chicken tortilla soup this week!  Am I spoiled or what?!  Yummmmmmm...

When I haven't done something artistic in a while I start to get a little anxious.  I have to have my fill of creativity on a regular basis.  One day when I was sure I was going to crawl out of my skin I got out a canvas I had that was waiting to be painted for my mom.  The problem was that I didn't have anything in mind.  Nothing to look at or recreate.  I am generally the type of artist who has to look at something in order to create something.  I can't just think of something in my head and put it down on paper.  This time I was so desperate for something to create that I just got out the paint and started painting.  Here is what came out...photo5
It is far from finished but I am entitling it, "heaven is on the horizon".  This seems to be a fitting theme for our lives right now.

I hope you have a blessed weekend.  I will leave you with a scripture that has come up a few times in my study this week.  I don't believe that to be a coincidence.  I believe God wanted me to read it and live it...

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstance; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
