Tahoe trip, rock climbing adventure...

We haven't ventured out much during quarantine. With the exception of Olivia's memorial service or the brief trip to Tahoe with her family we have mostly been confined to the walls of our house. Our camping trip was canceled due to the pandemic & the closure of state parks. Our trip to Oregon for Landon's basketball camp was wiped from our calendar when the camp was unable to operate in quarantine.

After all the various cancellations & the grief that we have been experiencing Chris decided to move forward on a trip that he had planned to Tahoe for our family. Sometimes it is necessary to leave our daily routines. I know for me personally, I was a little timid to go to a place that reminds me of Olivia so much. But Chris painstakingly planned out every detail to ensure not only our safety but that we could all get a much needed change of scenery & have some fun as a family. We each needed it in our own ways.

The timeshare that we stayed in at Northstar was very clean although we brought disinfectant wipes & scrubbed everything from top to bottom just to be safe. The first night we spent time together playing games & laughing until our sides ached.

I really have to brag on Chris a little bit here. He went out of his way to plan & schedule totally new adventures for us so that this trip would be enjoyable & a welcomed release instead of another painful reminder. He suggested driving up a different way than we normally do to avoid the onslaught of memories. I am really so grateful for him & how he anticipated all of these little details at a time when I wasn't in the right headspace to contribute in even the smallest of ways.

The first new adventure Chris planned for us was a rock climbing excursion through Alpenglow Expeditions which I would totally recommend. It was awesome!

We rode up in the truck, checking out the terrain as we drove to the base of the mountain...
and then we had a short walk to the start of the course...
We have no experience rock climbing but the nature of the course is that even beginners can participate with relative ease. Our guide talked us through the harness & karabiners & we were on our way...
There were some vertical climbs but in addition to the harnesses they also have handholds & footholds built into the rock face to assist your climb...
The views are spectacular...
There was even a suspended monkey bridge which was exhilarating...
This experience was incredible & I know if you asked any one of us we would each recommend it. Check it out if you get a chance. You won't regret it!
