take a hike...

Hiking may be one of my favorite things.  I love being outdoors.  We're never really completely "off the grid" but I love enjoying the beauty of God's creation away from all the distractions of normal every day life.  And unlike running, which I get sick of extremely quickly, hiking never feels like exercise.  Just give me a trail & my people & I'm a happy camper.  No pun intended.

We hiked down to Mansion Beach & crossed over the bridge just like we did last year.
The water level was down considerably this year but it was still incredibly peaceful listening to the water flowing downstream over the rocks.
Ashlyn & Olivia found a small frog along the bank of the creek...
Early in the morning Mansion beach is quite and serene.  There were very few people there & we were surrounded by the sounds of birds in the trees & the lake water lapping up on the beach.
The fact that there even was a beach is vastly different from our trip a year ago.  Less water but no less beautiful.
Chris took a series of black & white images throughout our trip & I will feature some of them.  Here are just a couple...
