On Saturday the weather was flawless...the sky a gorgeous blue without a single cloud in sight. We took advantage of the warmth and spent almost the entire day outside.
In the morning, Chris took Landon to play four square and basketball at the school and then out for a special lunch. While biting into a chicken wing at Wing Stop Landon stopped and told Chris, "Dad, I think the chicken wing just took my tooth out!"
Chris saved the lost tooth from the chicken wing and brought it home in a napkin to await the Tooth Fairy.
Last week, Ashlyn finished reading Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton. She was incredibly inspired by Bethany's story. So inspired, in fact, that she decided that she wants to surf too. Dominic was so stoked when I told him that he may get the chance to teach her to do one of his favorite things!
Ashlyn read that Bethany started skating in order to be a better surfer. Since she isn't able to surf yet she immediately wanted to start skating. Thankfully, the boy down the street let her borrow his skateboard. On Saturday, my friend, Olivia, gave Ashlyn some pointers to help her get started.
Olivia was patient and encouraging and Ashlyn was so unbelievably happy!

I love watching my kids develop their own individual interests. For Landon those interests include just about any sport and of course, LEGOs. Ashlyn realized early on that she doesn't really like to sweat, (her words, not mine) so she gave up on sports and focused on dance. Now she has a growing interested in skating and surfing as well. I love the diversity in their passions.

It was an amazing day!
(I love the "carefree" flip of her wrists!)
