camping part 3...

After our morning hike on day two, Dominic had to head home and we decided to hit the beach.  I didn't get many pictures at the beach because I was in charge of Basil and there were way too many other dogs on the very small beach and she was extremely uneasy.

Most of us ended up getting burned at the beach and we weren't even there that long!  Landon was the only one who didn't end up crispy.

While the boys were off showering Ashlyn and I did a little shadow boxing.

The kids thought this was absolutely hilarious.  

When were are camping Ashlyn loves to spend time in the tent reading.  I tried to get a picture of her deeply engrossed in her book...

but she caught me...

Chris made fajitas for dinner...

They were delicious!

Then it was time for more s'mores...

(Chris calls this Edward Marshmallowhands)

The fire was too hot for Ashlyn and she finally had to give up and let dad roast her marshmallows... 

and Landon was showing us his interpretive fire dance...

The kids put on their headlamps and we waited for the sunset...

(Landon was actually trotting around so we called him unicorn the rest of the night)

it did not disappoint...

That night we told stories around the fire. There was a "hippy van" a few campsites down from us with a guy who played the guitar.  We got to enjoy our own mini concert free of charge.  The fire may have been hot but we were warm, happy and blessed.
