Last week started with cold weather and showers, this week it is hot and dry. At this time last week I was sighing in relief that Landon's class party was all done but still had one more party to go. This week I am thoroughly enjoying the freedom of summer. Here is a little review of the last week.
the last day of school...
Ashlyn and Landon had a great school year. They had amazing teachers that they both loved. Ashlyn told me quite frequently how much she liked her teacher and more specifically she love that her teacher didn't yell or blow her whistle in the classroom. (Praise God that we were able to change schools this year!) Landon came a long way in kindergarten. He started out the year knowing most of his letters and some of his numbers and now he is starting to read and knows almost all his numbers! He was so thrilled for his promotion ceremony.
Landon's class sang a medley of some of the songs they learned throughout the year and Landon's voice rang out high above all of the other children.
Landon requested pictures with all of his friends after the ceremony...
and then it was time to party...
Speaking of party, Chris' birthday was on Friday. When Ashlyn was born the day after Chris' birthday we knew that his birthday would most likely become overshadowed. As it turned out this year Ashlyn's sleepover was being held on his birthday. We tried our best to help him have a special day. It started with a "special breakfast" to which I quickly added the disclaimer that this was NOT going to become an everyday thing.
Chris and Landon didn't want to get stuck in a house full of screaming girls so they escaped to dinner and a movie.
They were the first people in the theater. Can you spot Landon?
random bits...
Ashlyn got the Justin Bieber movie, Never Say Never, for her birthday. She even made her own little sign that says "I love Justin Bieber" for the wall in her room. A few months ago while on a road trip we saw Ashlyn's future car!
The kids love to play with Basil. Thankfully, she is very tolerant of them and their many games.
Monday morning I took a long shower and just basked in the fact that I didn't have anywhere to go. When I turned off the water and looked down THIS WAS ON MY FOOT!!
I screamed bloody murder and jumped out of the shower. Ashlyn actually came upstairs to inform me that when they were outside they heard a woman screaming. I wonder who that could have been? Once my heartbeat slowed (admittedly not by much) I stopped to take a picture to document that there was in fact a HUMONGOUS spider IN the shower with me. Then I grabbed the nearest flip flop and smacked that sucker until it was nothing but a smear on the shower floor. I am not really a big advocate of killing things but as far as I am concerned if a spider comes into my house it is an uninvited guest and therefore must be killed. Future uninvited visitors be warned.
I got some long overdue pampering this week in the form of a haircut. You know you are overdue when the ends of your hair feel like hay and are a drastically different color than the rest of your hair. Mine somewhat resembled Bozo the clown. Recently, I have had major issues with my curls. I actually thought I was losing curl and that maybe I was just destined to have fuzzy lifeless scraggles (is that a word?!) for the rest of my life. Thankfully, the lady who cuts my hair is a miracle worker and after a lot of thinning and layering my curls returned!

Father's day is quickly approaching and then our swim lessons start next week. Looking forward to the lazy weekend! So, Happy Lazy Weekend to you!
