I have to take a minute to brag about Chris & his food. Whether at home or away he creates amazing dishes & camping is no exception. He is often the first person out of bed & begins setting up the stove for breakfast, starting a fire & boiling water for coffee.

We don't just eat cereal, although that is always an option. He cooks up some type of meat; Canadian bacon, sausage, bacon & there are usually scrambled eggs or omelettes for those who want them. His delicious breakfasts give us a great start to our day.
Our day at Emerald Bay gave us a lot of good memories...as well as some killer sunburns. Poor Ashlyn's shoulders were so burnt that as I was rubbing sunscreen on her the following day she said it felt like I was scraping her skin with sandpaper & brought her to tears. As a result, most of us tried to stay in the shade when we visited Sand Harbor.

Ashlyn has been re-reading Harry Potter this summer so she brought her book along to pass the time in the shade...

The weather was cooler than the previous day & there was an extreme wind advisory beginning at noon. That didn't stop us from renting a kayak & paddling around the cove. The wind created a lot of waves & made it all that more exciting. I even got Ashlyn out of the shade & into the water...

The pictures don't do it justice at all. We followed a mama duck & her ducklings while they paddled through the rough water. The little duck in the foreground ended up getting separated from the entire family. At one point they were on complete opposite sides of the cove. The mama gathered up the rest of the ducklings by putting them all on her back & set off looking for the little missing duckling. Unfortunately, she was swimming in the opposite direction. Landon & I weren't the only onlookers who were concerned about the little lost baby. It made us feel a little hopeless that we weren't able to help them reunite. Sad to say I have no idea how this whole situation turned out although I'd like to think that they found each other.

These kids are growing up so fast. This was in almost the same spot last year & the difference is unreal...

Olivia captured these pics of Chris & me & I think they just might be some of my favorite pics of all time...
It was a beautiful day. Sand Harbor is such an incredibly stunning place. The cobalt & aqua blue waters & the fascinating rock formations juxtaposed with the pine trees & snow capped mountains...it's breathtaking. Just another reason to praise God for His insanely creative abilities & for blessing us with the privilege to enjoy it in all its glory.
