Chris got me tickets to the Mumford & Sons concert in Indianapolis on March 25th! The band had announced their new tour but had not released any West Coast dates. I figured we would just be waiting until they finally announced the dates in our area. I never dreamed that we would travel all the way to Indiana to see them. Chris had Ashlyn draw this picture which is what he presented me with on Christmas Day. I have it hanging in my office because I love it so much.

The weekend came much faster than I thought it would. Hal & Jenny stayed with the kids while Chris & I headed off to Indiana. We stayed at the J.W. Marriott & stayed on the 28th floor which, despite being really scary (I don't like heights), had incredible views...

You could even see the state capital...

It was fairly late by the time we arrived & checked in but that didn't stop us from taking a short walk to St. Elmo's for a delicious steak dinner. Chris had their famous shrimp cocktail which he said was amazing & had him reduced to tears & cleared sinuses because of the volume of horseradish in their cocktail sauce.
The next day we hit the cold streets of Indianapolis (40 degrees with a wind chill factor that made it feel more like 32 degrees) to do some exploring. We found good coffee, the state capital, war memorials & I think in total we walked over 6 miles that day!
I knew I wanted to get a picture of this church for my mom. She loves church pictures.

The architecture in Indianapolis is beautiful with so much history.

The state capitol up closer...

After going back to the hotel for a brief rest it was soon time to meet our friends, Brooks & Amanda, for dinner. They moved from California to Indiana almost a year ago & we were excited to be going to the concert together. They are two of our favorite people to go with because they are so much fun! Brooks picked a Mexican restaurant for dinner which was perfect - who doesn't love tacos & margaritas?

We walked to the Pacer's stadium for the concert after dinner & Chris got a pic with some Larry Bird memorabilia.

To say that I was excited was an understatement. Mumford is by far my favorite band & this was the fourth time we have gotten to see them in concert. They never disappoint but this particular show was by far the best Mumford & Sons concert I've ever experienced. The lights, pyrotechnics & sound were incredible...

We were really close to the stage which made the event so much better. I don't think we would have had the same experience if we had seats.
And it didn't hurt that at one point Marcus Mumford was literally one person away from us!
It was such an unbelievable adventure.
Thank you, Chris. Thank you for anticipating that we would need some time away & for knowing me so very well. You have shown that you pay attention to the little things & you know exactly what I love. It was truly the perfect gift & I loved every minute with you.
