another night, another lantern festival...

Back in April Ashlyn & I went to The Lights lantern festival.  Originally, Chris & Landon were going to go with us but Landon ended up having a basketball game. I had asked Memejo if she would like to go with us & she said she definitely wanted to go but she was sadly unavailable. Fast forward a few months and we found another lantern festival in my hometown & everyone was free!

This lantern festival was a little different. Instead of lighting the lanterns & releasing them up into the night sky these lanterns used an LED candle & floated out into the lake.  We still got to decorate the lanterns with any words or drawings we wanted.

Each of us decorated our lanterns in our own way. Landon drew a smiley face, a ramp & some cool patterns & designs. 

Mine had a bit of scripture, song lyrics & drawings...

Chris filled one side with words that describe meaningful things in life...

and one side with a quote in Latin from one of my favorite movies of all time, Tombstone...

Landon's candle broke so he ended up decorating the wood base as well as his paper lantern. 

Ashlyn wrote some quotes from the book series she is currently reading as well as some drawings to go with them...

The crowds grew & we watched as the almost full moon slowly rose up over the nearby foothills & knew the lantern release would be coming soon...

Finally, it was time.  Under the reflection of the moon we released our lanterns & watched as they drifted out into the dark water...

It really was beautiful...
I was even able to find my light in the darkness...
