at last I see the light...

Anyone who knows me at all knows that attending a lantern festival has been on my bucket list for a number of years.  A few years back I actually purchased a lantern to release on New Years Eve but sadly we didn't have a safe enough venue to set the lantern free.  If you've never heard of a lantern release, think of the Disney movie Tangled, particularly this scene.

This past weekend I took Ashlyn & two of her friends to The Light Fest in Northern California.   We set out on our little road trip complete with good food, good music & lots of laughter.

There were a lot of people there for the event.  This field only got more crowded as the night went on.  We made sure to secure a spot near a tiki torch because all the research I did said that this would be the best place to be when it was time to light the lanterns.

We spent some of our waiting time decorating our individual lanterns...

Beautiful light & my incredibly beautiful girl.

While we were waiting for the sun to set Ashlyn used the pens provided to make a little body art.

Finally, they lit the tiki torches...

and it was time to release our lanterns...

Here are a few of the videos that Ashlyn & I took

Just for a laugh, here is what happens when your lantern doesn't exactly do what its supposed to do...ooops!
