Shasta road trip, part 2...

After driving most of the day a swim in Lake Siskiyou was a welcome change.  The cool water was an amazing contrast to the intense heat of the day.

Ashlyn & Landon didn't hesitate & ran right into the crystal clear water.

We got some gorgeous views of Mt. Shasta.
Watching them in the lake reminded me of the scene from the original Parent Trap where the girls trick their dad's evil fiancé, Vicki, into walking into the lake because "it's not deep".  Needless to say, the lake was deep & much to everyone's delight Vicki ended up falling in the lake.

My mom & I waded into the water but the clay dirt created a weird sucking effect on my feet so I didn't stay in the water long.  Instead we sat in the shade...

On the last day of our trip we drove in search of the Little Shasta church.  It is literally in the middle of nowhere.  We honestly didn't think we were going to find it:  the GPS failed us, the address was no where to be found & even the locals weren't sure of it's whereabouts.  It was as if this church was a myth created to draw tourists.  But we were determined.  We refused to turn back & after about two hours of searching we found it!
After the Little Shasta Church we set out on the long road home.  We had a wonderful time spent together.  We talked about old times, laughed about so many things & created lifelong memories.  All signs of an amazing road trip.
