It didn't help that we literally added fuel to the fire. Due to the previously mentioned bee problem, we had citronella candles around our campsite. Two of our candles from last year were missing the wicks. Instead of throwing them away we placed them on the grate over the fire pit so they would still melt. The boys would take their sticks and dip them in the citronella wax, creating a flaming torch. We can just call this "the same thing happens every year". We eventually had to lay down the law and tell them no more flaming sticks before we started a forest fire.

This year I was able to talk Chris (and Christy) into staying an additional night. I hate arriving at the campsite on the first day, spending that day setting up camp, only spending one full day in Tahoe and then having to pack up everything and drive home the following day. Staying one more night gave us more time at the lake, time to go hiking and overall just made the trip seem much more relaxing.
With more time for activities we were able to spend the second morning hiking. Despite the looks on their faces my kids actually enjoyed themselves.

Beautiful from any angle...

The first time we all went camping together was in 2013. It is now three years later and I can't believe how much they have all grown up.

More time at the lake coming soon...
