This year our family decided to do something a little different with our own Christmas. Chris, Ashlyn, Landon and I packed our bags and headed to Disneyland to celebrate! I didn't bring my "big girl camera" so this trip was solely capture on our iPhones.
Ashlyn and Landon haven't been on a plane since Ashlyn was two years old and Landon was just three months old so we thought we would fly and give them an opportunity to experience traveling to Disneyland by plane (MUCH better than the booooooring drive to L.A. if you ask me!)
They got on the plane and started reading through the emergency procedures until Ashlyn deemed them "too scary" to read.
Ashlyn was a little more nervous than Landon. She had a death grip on the seat during takeoff...
Landon thought it was awesome.
He took this shot of snow capped mountains during the flight.
After a quick shuttle ride to the hotel we found ourselves heading through the gates of the happiest place on earth...
which was festively decorated for Christmas every where you turned...
The first ride we hit was Indiana Jones. Landon was finally tall enough to ride the last time we were at Disneyland but the ride was shut down.
He could hardly contain his excitement!
He said it was totally worth the wait.
The park was insanely crowded. Despite the masses of people we hit a few more rides...
and even met up with a good friend of mine and her family who live in SoCal…
The park looks especially cool at night.
Just as I was about to take a video of the magic and childhood wonder of it all…Landon got soap suds in his eyes. Story of my life. Hahaha (don't worry, he was fine)
Day two we headed to California Adventure first and hit Landon's favorite ride, Ca Screamin'.
Can you tell that my kids love roller coasters?!
Followed by a little Starbucks...
and Cars Land…
Tower of Terror…
Ca Screamin' again...
I so love these three…
We crossed over to Disneyland and decided we would hit Splash Mt before the sun went down. Well, the line didn't really cooperate with the sun & by the time we made it through the line the sun had almost set. Ashlyn was NOT thrilled and begged to sit out by herself. If you know anything about Splash Mt. you know the ride takes about 15 minutes to get through. We were not about to let her stand all by herself while we went on the ride so she had to come along.
This picture sums up her feelings pretty well. I tried my best to block her from the water, as you can see. Just kidding, there is no "blocking" someone from getting wet.
We shared with Ashlyn about the time we went on Splash Mt with Craig and they put him in the very front seat on our log. Craig was not exactly the smallest guy and I was seated directly behind him. When we hit the drop Craig ducked down which caused the wall of water to clear him completely and splash directly on me. I was soaked from head to toe. Craig thought it was absolutely hilarious.
Ashlyn really wanted to visit the World of Animation in Ca Adventure. When she was four years old we would go in the darkened room when it got too hot outside and Ashlyn would dance to the Disney movie songs and watch the animation on the large screens. While she didn't dance this time (so uncool) she did spend some time figuring out which Disney character she was most like…
more Disneyland fun to come!
