Ashlyn was off with a friend so Landon and I hit the movies. We saw Earth to Echo. It was surprisingly an excellent movie. When it was over Landon said, "that was a really good movie…but those kids did a lot of bad stuff."
This is one last picture from our 4th of July with the Hulls. They are some of our oldest and dearest friends. Plus they have a couple of littles who are just my favorite. You can check out more of our 4th of July fun and shenanigans here and here.
The kids and I met my dad at the park one day and I introduced my dad to the world of "selflies". First, taking a selfie with this many people is not as easy as it seems. Secondly, is it just me or does Ashlyn look like she's in a front pack?
Chris and I got a rare mid-week date night and enjoyed it at Vanessa's Bistro 2. So unbelievably yummy!
We got a chance to spend a few days with my cousin's little boy this summer. Ashlyn was in her element as the "little mommy" and Landon loved not being the youngest for a change.
Nolan recently came back to play and while he was here he and Basil became best buddies.
One day I overheard Ashlyn and Landon playing together in the other room. When I came in to see what they were up to they excitedly told me, "We're playing Harry Potter! This is Divination class!" and Landon said, "I'm Mad-Eye Moody!" I love to see there imaginations at work.
We enjoyed some park fun with our friend Olivia and Ashlyn proved, once again, that she is my little monkey. She climbed higher than she has ever gone before.
I had one little project that I was determined to finish this summer. It required a little visit to Lowe's, which I will admit is one of my favorite places. I love the smell of lumber. More on this to come...
During Daycamp week at church Ashlyn was with the middle school kids and was often gone for the whole day. Landon got to be my constant companion. We went out to lunch, ran errands and just hung out. I love spending time with him. He makes me laugh.
Speaking of lunch…Chipotle and a cute guy?? What more could a girl ask for?!
Even though it meant summer was almost over, Ashlyn was THRILLED to buy school supplies.
This was my rude awakening almost every morning of the summer because Basil doesn't understand the concept of sleeping in...
Landon's car fort…
We were at the pool for swim meets almost every Saturday during the summer. During one of the meets there was a parent's relay and I ended up swimming butterfly on a relay with three other moms.
Swim team finished up and although Ashlyn ultimately decided that this would be her only year on the team she admitted that she had improved quite a bit since the beginning of the season. She even popped one of her times by 25 seconds!
This girl…she is such a good friend. Christy is always there when you need her. She loves the Lord, has a true servants heart and she's not afraid to tell you the truth. Even if it hurts. She is also my birthday buddy with a birthday two days before mine. She even let me Bogart her birthday celebration for the second year in a row.
Speaking of birthday buddies…
Landon got squirt guns for his birthday and was dying to test them out. Ashlyn wanted no part in it but Landon decided that wasn't going to stop him. When all else fails, do it yourself!
Haven't seen my own little brother in a couple of months. I am missing this kid something fierce so he sent me this picture of him and his dog...
When the kids went back to school I got to have breakfast with my dad. We've been through some rough times over the years but I am so thankful for the relationship we have now. We have both decided to leave the past in the past. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing.
This puppy. I love her so much. I serve at The Story every Monday and Friday night. When I come home she is always waiting behind the door for me. She does her boxer-wiggle and then comes over so I can pet her. She loves her mama…
I leave you with a stunning sunset that Ashlyn captured when we were driving home one night...
And that's it for us!
Goodbye, Summer. It was amazing! Until next year…xoxo
