As we walked towards the top of the cliff I was struck with a little feeling of deja vu. Immediately, I was five years old again. I had completely forgotten that for my fifth birthday my family camped at this same campsite with my uncle, aunt and cousins. I remembered standing on this very cliff overlooking the ocean with my father. I swear that I could smell the musty scent of my family's camper. I could recall exactly which campsite we stayed in and even found the tree that my cousin climbed all of those years before.
The other thing that I was struck with as we made our way down the steep hill to the beach was that this trail was a lot more treacherous than we had originally anticipated. There were quite a few comments... and laughs... on the way back up as we questioned whose idea it was to hike all the way down to the beach anyway. It may or may not have been my idea... I'm not telling.
We made it to the beach in perfect timing. The sun was just starting to set when we took our first steps onto the sand.
The kids ran up and down the shoreline and played in the sand

And Kevin had a little fun of his own with the full moon...

There was a cool breeze and God provided a sunset that didn't disappoint. It was crazy awesome.

The kids found many treasures along the beach including a live sand dollar. Ashlyn decided to name it and keep it as a pet. I anticipated that this creature's fate would end up a lot like Jetski Squirt Swimmington.

Beautiful...

Happy Wednesday! Even more to come...
