nautical project...

A little over a week ago I told you I was working on an art project.  Chris' boss has a new grandson and he wanted me to create a meaningful picture for his bedroom.  He gave me the words to this song that his daughter sings to her son every night.  His grandson has a nautical themed bedroom and he wanted something that would compliment the room.

I have to say I was a little nervous about the project (I know you are all shocked to hear that).  I haven't done any calligraphy in years and I am pretty sure that I have never drawn anything nautical.  I also haven't drawn in pen since I was in high school!  I think my being nervous was completely justified.

I practiced drawing an anchor first because I was convinced that I couldn't draw one if my life depended on it...

After that I got to work on the layout that I had in my head and wrote out the words.  I added the anchor and a rope border...
After that all that was left was the framing!

I was actually pleased with the results (another shock)!

So I guess the conclusion would be that I in fact can still write in calligraphy and draw in pen!  Who knew?!
