heavenly inspiration...

As I mentioned over here I generally need to look at something when I create something.  The pictures that I have drawn of people were from photographs.  The wave I painted for my brother was from a photograph of a wave.

Soon after I completed Dominic's painting, my mom asked me to paint a picture for her home and the only specification she gave me was the colors.  I was at a loss for quite some time.  Occasionally, I looked at pictures of flowers and some abstract art pieces to get some insight but nothing really felt right.

One day, months later, when I was itching to do something artistic, I got out the easel and the canvas that my mom had purchased last year and had been tucked away in the garage after the move.  I stood staring at that blank canvas for a while.  I still had no direction.  No ideas were coming to me.  I decided to start with a background and see where I went from there.  After what seemed like only minutes later the background was quickly completed and there the painting sat, untouched, for a few days.

When Craig made the decision to stop chemo and live out the rest of his days in peace it gave me the inspiration I needed for the painting.  I certainly didn't know that at the time.  I looked at that canvas over and over feeling nothing...and then I prayed.  I prayed for Craig and thanked God for the hope we have in Him and I asked God to give me some inspiration.  It never crossed my mind that God would use all the things that I had just prayed about to influence my painting.

As I painted the thoughts of Craig and heaven and hope continually circled around my mind.  This was the result...

I entitled the painting, "Heaven is on the Horizon" because in our life, and for someone we loved Heaven was on the horizon.

I had planned to put one of my mom's favorite scriptures on the painting but I wanted it to fit with the inspiration for the painting.  I called my mom and told her about the painting and my idea and she gave me the perfect scripture to use...

My mom loved it and it is already hanging in her house!  Praise God for divine inspiration!

No only do I love it but it matches the quilt on my bed perfectly! Thank you so much for all your time and effort that went into it!
