On Monday Ashlyn came home with this...
Fan-freakin-tastic. My mom is glowing with payback-fever remembering all the hours that my brother and I played our recorders. Seriously, what is it with these things? Ashlyn is beyond excited to play the recorder so the nails-on-the-chalkboard-squeaking is relentless. I requested that she take her concert to her room for a little bit (so I could think clearly again) and she opted to go outside instead. She was only outside for a few minutes before the girl next door came outside with her trumpet. I swear to you it was like dueling banjos with wind instruments. I'm sure the neighbors were really appreciative.
The homework woes continued at our house this week.

Ashlyn has actually been great, finishing her homework in record time. Apparently, the recorder was just the motivation she needed to focus and blow through her homework without a fight. After finishing her homework today she curled up in a chair to read.

and it went from bad to worse in a matter of minutes.
At this point I asked him what was wrong and he said Ashlyn was bothering him. Um...if you will remember the photo above I am pretty sure that Ashlyn's laying in a chair and not making a sound was not bothering him. Nice try though.
Landon is actually quite capable of doing his homework. He is very bright but just has a really hard time staying focused. Every few seconds he gets distracted by the dog, Ashlyn, a piece of lint...it's exhausting. I feel bad for him because I know homework isn't all that fun. Ok, sometimes is downright stinks! I am praying for strength so that I can extend grace to both of the kids during the homework woes.

Ashlyn decided that she wanted to do the science fair this year. She has been begging me all week long to let her start her project. She loves science. So today we had a little bit of time and she got to work.
Lastly, I would just like to give a little shout out to my awesome husband. He had to go on a business trip this week and before he left he made dinner for us so that I wouldn't have to put together the whole meal.
Amazing right? Love that guy.
Speaking of Chris, he grabbed Ashlyn's recorder this week and did a pretty spot on impression of Ron Burgundy on jazz flute. I'm not gonna lie...it was pretty funny.
