a funk and a little fun...

This week proved to be a difficult one for me.  I found myself in a funk and couldn't pull myself out.  I didn't want to do anything or go anywhere.  When I get into a funk I become overly and falsely critical of every thing that I do and everything that I am.  Thankfully, I can turn to God's Word for the truth.

Psalm 139:13-14 For you formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother's womb.  I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

and

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

And so, being thankful, I move on...

The first session of swim lessons ended on Thursday.  The kids had so much fun! The weather was a bit unpredictable and we found ourselves in the pouring rain.  This was my view of the pool on Wednesday...

It's so nice to sit out on a summer day and watch your kids swim.  Sarcasm noted...

It didn't take long for Ashlyn to remember what she had learned during swim lessons last year.  Her confidence grew and she was swimming on her own before the end of the first week.

Landon is too old for his current swim class but not old enough to be in the next class up.  The city's rules won't allow him to be in the next class until he is 6 and he doesn't turn 6 until the end of the summer.  So basically, I paid for him to learn how to blow bubbles...again.  He still had fun and the pool manager assured me that the instructor would try to teach him more advanced techniques in the next session. Photobucket
Gotta love the "Hi Mom!"

When the rain moved on we played outside and enjoyed the warmth.

Basil waited patiently and then chased and snapped at the bubbles that floated by

Later in the week the kids built "the BEST fort ever" out of couch cushions and I was told "I just had to come see it!"

Cutting back on technology has proven to be a very good thing.  Landon becomes less irate and is much more imaginative.  I can hear him with Ashlyn coming up with ideas and getting really excited about implementing them.

Ashlyn and I had a little girl time in the way of a mani/pedi.  She picked the colors, sparkles and stickers.  I think she would have used every embellishment that we own if I'd let her including the Christmas themed nail stickers.

Landon got his own Mommy and Daddy time while Ashlyn slept over at a friend's house last week.  We took him to The Counter for dinner or as he calls it "the place where Mommy had her birthday".  Mind you, we ate there on my birthday two years ago!  He doesn't care, and is happy as along as he can share a milkshake.

Our weekend holds barbecues with old friends, worshiping God, meeting our friend's new baby, and a 4th of July barbecue with family.  It is sure to be a great one!

Have a great one!
