As I mentioned in a previous post Chris and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary this year. I was totally unaware that Chris had been planning a trip to celebrate since January! What an awesome husband I have! :) We went to dinner on May 29th, which is our actual anniversary, and Chris told me about the trip he had planned. We were going to drive down Highway 1, stop and stay in a few places and end up in Santa Barbara for the wedding of our friends, Shaun and Gail. We have been looking forward to our getaway ever since!
On Tuesday, we headed down to San Jose to drop off the kids with my Mom. Then we were off to Pacific Grove. 10 years ago Chris and I spent our Honeymoon in Carmel at the Highlands Inn. We have always loved Pacific Grove. We stayed two nights in a Bed and Breakfast that belongs to my Mom's friend.

We visited The Cheese Shop in Carmel, which we LOVE, and after sampling a bunch of cheeses we purchased some wedges of cheese, salami and crackers and headed down to the beach.
Unfortunately, it was freezing and so windy that the sand was whipping around in swirls! We decided to scratch the beach and drove into Point Lobos instead. We had a great view and were nice and warm in our car!

We headed down Hwy 1 a bit more and took our time stopping to take pictures and enjoy the view.

We got down to Pismo Beach and checked into the Cottage Inn. We went to the Splash Cafe for lunch and had their amazingly rich clam chowder. So yummy! We walked along the beach that evening. While we were walking we saw a bright light on the beach and walked down to find out what was going on. It turned out that they were filming a music video for Rascal Flatts! The video was for the song "Summer Nights" which Chris' friend Mike Busbee wrote! What an exciting trip!

The next day we drove down to Santa Barbara for the wedding. We met up with our great friends, Jason and Theresa, Theresa's mom Linda and sister Valerie. We had such a great time at the wedding. The bride was absolutely gorgeous. The reception was at an estate overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful and freezing but a lot of fun!
The next day we headed home. We had the most relaxing time on our trip. It was great for us to be able to spend some quality time together. We sometimes take our spouses for granted when we get wrapped up in day-to-day life. I am truly blessed with a wonderful husband! We had an amazing time and came back totally refreshed!

Sounds like a lovely and romantic trip!
Trips such as this is the oil and lube job for a marriage relationship!
I am happy to watch the kids as regularly as maintenance is needed! :)
