Now that summer is over our summer activities have come to an end. One of the kid's favorites this year was swim lessons. They have done swim lessons the last 2 years but this year they really took off!
Ashlyn was afraid to get in the water last year and this year she ended the swim season swimming backstroke! The local pool has a wonderful program for little kids. The pool is actually shallow enough for the kids to stand so it gives them the confidence to go into the water.
Ashlyn had three, two week sessions this year. One of the sessions ended up being one-on-one with the teacher because no other kids signed up for that class! She finished that session being able to swim the length of the pool, being able to float for over a minute and having so much confidence in the water - I was amazed!
Landon was a little afraid during his first lesson. Last year Mommy was in the water with him so being in the water by himself with the teacher was a little intimidating. He became quite a fan of his teacher. He called her "my girl". He loved doing his kicks and blowing bubbles. His all time favorite skill was doing "bobs" - especially when he finally got his head all the way under the water. The teacher worked really hard on trying to get him to retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool. He would try his hardest to get the object without looking down and opening his eyes in the water.
They had a fantastic summer and a great swim season! I swear they have gills somewhere!
