First Day of School!!

Today was Ashlyn's first day of Kindergarten and Landon's first day of preschool. They were so excited! They have both been asking us for days if it is time to go to school yet! I wonder how many more years that will last!

We dropped Landon off first. He hopped out of the car, and walked up the steps to his classroom. He was excited to see his teacher who he already knew because she was Ashlyn's teacher last year. Miss Camp took a picture with him, he gave us a hug and a kiss good-bye and didn't even look back when we left. That was a little sad for Mommy. I am proud of my big boy.

Next we dropped off Ashlyn at her new school. Ashlyn's schedule starts with recess. Her teacher Mrs. McCosker checked her in and she gave us a hug and a kiss and said, "Bye Mom, Bye Dad!" and bounded off to the playground to play. Chris and I left the playground and watched from outside the fence. We saw her playing with the other kids and we also noticed that none of the other parents were leaving. Some parents can be SO overprotective. ;) Since I hadn't gotten the amount of pictures that I wanted (the paparazzi have NOTHING on me!) we decided to go back in and see if we could get some more shots. I caught Ashlyn to see if I could get a picture of her at her desk in her classroom. When I called her name and she looked up and saw me she said, "Why are you still here?!" I think I have officially embarrassed my child - the first of many times, I'm sure. She let me take pictures of her at her desk and promptly went back to playing.

Chris and I enjoyed about an hour to ourselves this morning before we had to start the pickup routine. We are not used to having child free moments in the middle of the week!

The kids had a great time at school. Landon enjoyed the story that he heard, eating his snack, playing on the playground and that Mommy and Daddy came back to pick him up. Ashlyn said she had two stories and was excited that she knew one of them. She got to play on the playground and ate her snack and met some new friends. Overall a great first day of school!
