I am sure I have said this many times before but slow camp mornings when you can just sit & enjoy the sweet sound of the birds in the trees, see the golden rays of light filtering through the tree branches, feel the warmth of a crackling fire & sip on a hot cup of coffee are some of my favorite times.
This particular day we headed to Capitola to soak up some sun. We got there early in the day & pretty much had the entire beach to ourselves...
I can't help but think of the vacation that my mom took Dominic & me when I see the colorful Capitola By-the-Sea houses. I'm pretty sure I was 10 years old & Dominic was just 7. We still talk about that trip today. The early morning walks on the beach to find sand dollars, Dominic fishing off the pier, burying each other in the sand (& being mortified when a friend of mine happened to be at the beach & walked by while I was buried), building sandcastles & playing paddleball. Mom's have a way of making vacations magical & my mom definitely did just that for us. No matter what was going on in her life, in our lives, she made things special.
Back to the present...
Ashlyn worked on digging a hole while Landon worked on his tan...
