Monterey Bay Aquarium...

On day three we made a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
I will admit that while I was planning this trip & thinking of activities to fill our time I originally thought of the aquarium. But then I was concerned that my kids might be "too old" for the aquarium.  My concerns were put to rest when they each separately asked if we could go to the aquarium while we were on our trip.
I don't know what it is about the mysteries of sea life but I am always left in awe & amazed by God's creation & His incredible imagination.
I think it's safe to say that the kids were also in awe...

If you remember the last trip that Landon & I took to the aquarium you may remember how fascinated he was with the Bat Rays.  Well, no trip to the aquarium would be complete without a (long) visit to the touch pool...
Landon told Ashlyn all the tricks that he has learned at the touch pool & how to get the rays to come over to you...
The rays generally stay up against the wall or just out of reach of the flailing fingers of curious children eager to touch the rays.

Landon has a different method.  He waits with his hand very still, not disturbing the water or the rays.           I have never seen him more patient at anything in his life.
and his patience always pays off...
Ashlyn eventually left Landon at the bat ray pool to check out some of the other touchable sea life...
It was cleaning time in in the kelp forest & we observed two scuba divers brushing & vacuuming the sea floor...

In addition to all of this we also got to see feeding time in the open sea exhibit, the giant octopus & many other incredible habitats.

We had such an incredible trip.  I guess that just goes to show that you are never too old for a visit to the aquarium.
