memories & a guitar...

You may remember that last year Ashlyn asked if she could have Uncle Craig's cherished guitar.  Sadly, our attempts to find a guitar teacher fell through time & time again & now it's been over a year since she asked if she could take lessons. I'm not kidding when I say that we approached at least 5 different people, both friends & strangers, & they either didn't have time or just flat out didn't get back to us.

However, this week we finally found a teacher & Ashlyn's goal of learning to play the guitar became a reality.

When asked why she wanted to learn to play the guitar Ashlyn's answer was simple & came without hesitation..."when I was little my uncle used to play this guitar & I want to learn as a tribute to him."

So many incredible memories came flooding back as I listed to Ashlyn & her teacher practice playing different chords on the very strings that Craig played on many years ago.  I truly believe that memories are one of the great blessings that God gives us.  That we can hear a song or even just a melody or smell a particular scent & be transported back to a different time in our life is truly incredible.  I thank the Lord for His great kindness & for the glimpse I got of Craig right before the anniversary of his going home to be with his Savior.
