fourth grade play...

Last week was the fourth grade play.  Landon was excited for us to come and see him but was not really thrilled about the play itself.  During the ride to school on the morning of the play the three fourth graders in my carpool talked about how the play is the same every. single. year.  They were thrilled that two new songs had finally been added this year.  As a parent who already saw this play when Ashlyn was in fourth grade I was happy to have an update as well.  I won't complain because at least I didn't have to sit through a recorder concert this year.  Say what you will about fourth grade; that it's overflowing with projects, reports and homework, but at least it doesn't have recorders.  Silver lining?  I think so! Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug
Chris and I got to the school early so that we could get a good seat and so I could get the right camera settings for the dark multi-use room.  Landon's class was the second class to get up on stage.

There is always that one moment during an elementary school performance.  You see your child walk out onto the stage.  Their eyes scan the audience trying to find your familiar face.  Their eyes dart around the room, searching for you among the sea of parents.
And then they spot you.  You see the signs of recognition as their eyes light up and a smile spreads across their face.

To be known…there isn't a feeling in the world that compares.

I knew long before the play started that Landon knew all the words to the songs.  He had been singing them non-stop for the past two weeks.  I laughed as I watched him dance with his friend knowing that he was probably really embarrassed.  Landon isn't one who likes to be in the spotlight.  Sports is one thing but standing on stage and singing and dancing is a completely different ballgame.  Pardon the pun.  All things considered, he did a great job.
