Resurrection Sunday, part 1...

This post is a week late.  As I type this Spring Break is in its final hours.  We had a busy but fun week visiting with friends, going out for breakfast, seeing movies and playing outside until long after dark.  This week resembled summer so much that I am looking forward to school ending that much more.

A week ago we celebrated Resurrection Sunday.  I went through a Lent study for a little over a month before Easter and am so in awe of Jesus and what He went through for me.  He was mocked, betrayed, falsely accused, beaten beyond recognition, sentenced to die, and hung on a cross all because of my sin.    When He was falsely accused He didn't try to make a case for Himself.  He was silent.  How many times has someone lied about me or falsely accused me of something…I know I was probably not silent but instead pled my case.

The thing that gets me every time is that Jesus endured all of that willingly.  No one killed Jesus.  No one took His life.  He gave it up…for us.  Easter is increasingly becoming my favorite holiday.  What greater reason is there to celebrate than the freedom from sin that Jesus gave us with His death, burial and resurrection?  Fully amazed by God's grace.

After attending church services we headed to our friends' house for "Freaster".  We have celebrated the last three Easter's together so our friend-Easter tradition is going strong!

These two are probably some of the sweetest, most generous and caring friends anyone could ever have.
This year Easter Sunday was cold and rainy.  The girls curled up in front of the fire to stay warm.
And the boys filled up on cheese and crackers.
As usual, Chris, Kevin and Christy made an awesome meal including:
twice baked potatoes...
Roasted brussel sprouts...
Kevin's mom, Mary's, amazing salad...
grilled filet mignon...
Chris' vegetable tian...
Seriously, how mouthwatering is this...
Hello from the kids table!
Soon it was time for the, much anticipated, Easter egg hunt.  We moved it inside to escape the rain and the kids went nuts right out of the starting gate.

Landon grabbed an egg and it popped open spilling jelly beans all over the floor.  It only stopped him for a second before he was off to find more.
Christy and I also filled a few of the eggs with broccoli.  Julia was the first to find one...
But she wasn't the only one.
More Easter to come!
