Seriously though, this year…in some ways it went by so quickly. I can't believe it is already mid November.
Aside from photography and The Story, I am continuing to read the Harry Potter series when I get a free moment. Ashlyn was right, I am loving the series. I love the sense of friendship- how sometimes your friends can become just like family- and the theme of good overcoming evil. I just recently started The Prizoner of Azkaban. Ashlyn is especially happy because it is her absolute favorite book in the series. She likes that she can talk to me about the books and share her love of all things Harry Potter.
I was telling someone recently how Ashlyn is truly a genuine person. She is real. She can't stand when people are fake or pretend to be something they are clearly not. It drives her crazy when people try to be "cool".
I have to admit that I love that about her.
When she was younger she used to ask me if I thought people would like "fill in the blank". I always told her that as long as she likes it, that's all that matters. I love that she doesn't care what anyone thinks about who she is or how she dresses. For a long time she was known as the girl who wore glasses but didn't need glasses. She wore 3D movie glasses with the lenses punched out when she lost her favorite pair of fake glasses.
I love her smile.
He comes to me at least once a day to see if I will play with him. His choices are usually soccer, basketball, baseball although he recently added football to the list. There is a teacher at school who set up teams among the classes and had the kids playing flag football. Landon came home every day talking bout how much fun he was having and how many touchdowns his team scored.
One day Landon asked me to play football with him and I explained that I don't really play football. Honestly, I don't think I have played football since it was a requirement in P.E. during my sophomore year of high school. We ended up going to the greenbelt and passing the football back and forth with Landon coaching me as I threw the ball to him.
Yep, my nine year old taught me how to throw a spiral.
He was pretty proud of that…actually, I was too.
He also taught me that when the receiver catches the ball it is not legal for the opposing team to tickle the player until he gives up the ball. Who knew?!
When he can't play sports outside Landon is usually playing on the iPad.
I am reminded today how unbelievably blessed I am. I get to be their mom. Me. I get to help them grown into who God made them to be. It is one of the great privileges of my life.
