family bbq...

We had a little family day planned during Memorial Day weekend with my grandpa, dad, Molly and Dominic.

Early in the day Chris prepped the food he was going to cook and ended up with a knot in his neck from all the chopping.  He laid down on the ground to loosen it up but unfortunately Basil had other plans...

Any time someone lays down on the ground she comes over and licks them to death.
Everyone arrived safely... after getting stuck in some horrendous holiday traffic.  
Ashlyn and Molly worked on the dress they have been sewing together.  Ashlyn didn't want me to take any pictures…good thing she doesn't have a choice.  

She finished sewing the sleeves of her dress and the front and back of the body.  It is almost complete; although Molly is concerned that as fast as Ashlyn is growing she will be too big for the dress by the time they are done.  

The rest of us just hung out and enjoyed catching up.

I'm pretty sure Basil thinks everyone just came to see her…

Basil seems especially taken with my Grandpa and tries to get him to pay attention to her ever single time he is here.  I'm pretty sure he mostly just tolerates her.  

Dominic and the kids played a little baseball in the backyard…

They were all super goofy and it was pretty hilarious to watch.

I watched them play together mostly through the lens of my camera.  Even so, it is so awesome to see the way that Ashlyn and Landon look at Dominic.  In their eyes it is evident how much they completely love and admire him.

Plus, it doesn't hurt that he is super fun.  We all ended up laughing so hard that our sides ached...  

and Landon literally fell to the ground because he was laughing hysterically.

Hey, look at that!  I was there too!  

We always have an amazing time and then inevitably it comes time to say goodbye.  We have to be intentional about not letting too much time pass before we see each other again.  
I love these guys.
