easter 2014...

I have been reminded more in this past month of the real reason that we celebrate Easter than I think I ever have before.  The women's Bible study this year has been going through the book of John which points to who Christ is, where he came from, how he glorified his Father, how he saved us from the wages of sin and restored our broken relationship with the Father.  His resurrection brought peace between God and man and proved that he truly is the Messiah and Son of God who laid down his life for his own.

So many times I forget how much the Father truly loves us.  He isn't just looking down on us waiting for us to screw up so He can punish us.  He loves us.  We don't have to be perfect, and He doesn't expect us to be.  When He sees Jesus in us He sees the perfection that we could never attain on our own.  That gives me great hope because I know I could never ever measure up on my own.

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf…

Landon vividly remembered the egg hunt last year and how Ashlyn snaked the egg he found right off the top of the fence because he wasn't tall enough to reach it.  Things were a little different this year.  He was tall enough to reach the eggs on the fence and made sure to grab them before Ashlyn had a chance.  photo IMG_0068_zpsaea8ef6d.jpgphoto IMG_0075_zpsdb1bdff6.jpgphoto IMG_3383_zps832f0b91.jpgphoto IMG_0073_zpsd9097cac.jpgphoto IMG_0071_zps29f9c58f.jpgphoto IMG_3401_zps899d6c6f.jpgphoto IMG_3405_zps0c726f73.jpg
Chris made his infamous creme brûlée for dessert.  This year instead of making vanilla he tried his hand at a dark chocolate creme brûlée…

It was amazingly rich and creamy.

Julia was pretty curious about this odd looking dessert.  Ashlyn explained to her that it was French and Julia quickly made the declaration that she did not like French things. photo IMG_0083_zpsf7ee9088.jpgphoto IMG_0085_zpsf617dae6.jpg
Julia finally decided to give the creme brûlée a try with seemingly positive results…photo IMG_0088_zpsf37b5d86.jpg
I'm telling you, it was heavenly.photo IMG_0089_zpsf5d4ab7c.jpg
The boys didn't get any of the brûlée (shhhhh…don't tell them that) so that just may have made it that much sweeter for the girls.  They enjoyed every last bit and probably would have licked the bowls clean to ensure none of it was left unsavored.photo IMG_0094_zps7d67b7c4.jpg
Hope your Easter was wonderful!photo IMG_0097_zpsfec3dada.jpg
