The one tradition we do have is New Years Eve. There is an unspoken agreement that we will spend New Years Eve with our oldest friends, the Hulls. You may remember me talking about Theresa, my best friend since third grade. Our families have known each other, well...since I was eight! We have all been present for every major life event, we spend almost every Fourth of July together and our New Year's Eve celebrations have become legendary.
What started out as four friends spending a quiet night eating a delicious dinner and watching movies has transformed into an event that now includes our children, our families, even more great friends, a bigger venue and an epic meal created by Chris and Jason.
This year our event started with a trip to the park so the kids could get out some of their pent-up energy.

I love watching Ashlyn and Landon play with younger kids. Ashlyn is very motherly, always making sure the little ones are safe. Landon just likes to have fun and make sure everyone else is having as much fun as him.
The boys created an enticing Mexican feast for us from scratch including carnitas, enchiladas, three different salsas, rice, enough refried beans to feed and army and amazing grilled vegetables.

We ate like kings and laughed the night away...

Images like this make me realize how big Ashlyn is getting. I remember when she was the littlest one in the room. Time flies so fast.

I am so thankful for our New Year's Eve tradition. We always have an amazing night filled with laughter and great friends.
After trying to remember all of the details from previous years we decided that we needed to start a New Year's Eve log to write down all of the memories, a list of the people present and all of the funny things that happened throughout the night. I can't wait to fill the pages of that book.
Happy 2013 to you all!
