His idea...well it was nothing short of amazing. He offered to create an awesome dinner for me and a few of my friends. Chris planned the entire thing himself: he made the guest list, designed and sent the invitations, created the menu, bought a picnic table so we could dine al fresco, bought new plates and wine glasses, designed the decor, set the table, and cooked and served the delicious meal. Is that the greatest thing you have ever heard or what?! I felt so loved knowing that he wanted to do all of that for me.
My friends and I ate and talked and laughed as the sun set over golden hills.
Seriously, how good does this look?
As usual I was way too excited about the food and forgot to take pictures of every course. It was all enjoyed...trust me.
As I reflected on the evening and all of the great conversations, God brought Proverbs 27:17 to my mind.
Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

Tonight I was sharpened. As my friends prayed over me I couldn't help but smile. To know that you can be your true self with people and not have to pretend to be something you are not is no small thing. We encouraged each other, talked about God's blessings, His work in our lives and the lives our families, and how He always has a perfect plan for us.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up...
I needed that this week. Chris knew that I needed that. Having that time with my friends makes me a better wife, a better mom and just better all around.

I am so thankful for a husband who loves me. A husband who would go out of his way to plan something special just for me. He is such a thoughtful and generous person. I am truly blessed.
Oh and in case you wanted to know what was on the menu, here it is:
Appetizers
Grilled fresh basil and mozzarella flatbread pizza with balsamic glaze and white truffle oil
Antipasti plate: crostini, prosciutto, figs, Parmesan, olives and artichoke hearts
Salad
Arugala and orange with balsamic and shallot vinaigrette
Main Course
Grilled rosemary chicken with balsamic glaze
Grilled asparagus
Orzo salad with cherry tomatoes, red onion, mint and basil with a red wine vinaigrette
Dessert
Creme brulee with fresh blackberries and raspberries
Now you see why I have a big smile on my face?! Happy Birthday to me!
