Halloween Time

Halloween was a big event for Ashlyn and Landon this year.  First, some pumpkin carving...

I had the kids put on some old t-shirts so they wouldn't get their clothes all dirty.  Landon picked a preschool t-shirt that is so small it looks like a muscle-t.  He kept asking us if we had tickets to the gun show.

Ashlyn wasn't too thrilled about the pumpkin smell...

Now that they are both in elementary school they both got to be in the Halloween parade at school and have a party in their classrooms.  Landon's preschool didn't allow dressing up for Halloween so he was so fired up to show his friends his costume and to walk in the parade!

Not only did they get the Halloween parade and party but this year was the first time they have ever gone "real" trick-or-treating!  Our old neighborhood didn't have many kids and we never got any trick-or-treaters.  Until this year my kids thought that trick-or-treating consisted of getting dressed up, getting in the car and driving to the house of someone we know, getting out and saying "trick-or-treat", getting candy and then getting back in the car and driving to someone else's house.  It was still fun but just not quite the same and they never got much candy.  This year we had more trick-or-treaters than we have EVER had and Ashlyn and Landon got to go from house to house with a group of their friends from the neighborhood.  They could not believe how much candy they ended up with!

Keeping with his Star Wars obsession Landon decided he wanted to be Anakin Skywalker this year.  We called him "Lanakin Skywalker".  He was not really thrilled about that.  He LOVED his costume though!  Although, I have to say that his mask really creeped me out...

Landon wasn't allowed to wear his mask (or bring his lightsaber) to school so we had to draw a fake scar.  He kept it on all day even after his costume came off.  He was so proud when his teacher thought it was a real scratch

Ashlyn was so excited about her costume this year and I have to say...so was I!  Memejo purchased the season one DVD of Punky Brewster earlier this year and Ashlyn fell in love with it.  She decided back in May that she wanted to dress up as Punky for Halloween.

PhotobucketNow, this was like a flashback to my own childhood.  Punky Brewster was my favorite show as a kid and my best friend even dressed up as Punky in our Halloween parade.  I was a little concerned that no one would know who she was but when we went trick-or-treating Ashlyn's costume was a HUGE hit!  She even had "Brandon" the dog!

Chris and I didn't dress up for Halloween.  Chris stayed home to hand out candy while I went door to door with the kids.  Ashlyn did have costume ideas for us.  She wanted Chris to be Henry Warnimont and she wanted me to be Mrs. Johnson from across the hall.  I figured there were just a few logistical problems with this so I told her that I wasn't planning to dress up at all this year.

We had a blast this year!  Hope you did too!
