Ashlyn met Al and Ruthie when she was still an infant and knew only that she found comfort in the warm arms of the people who held her. She visited a few more times here and there and always talked about her visits for many days after. On Saturday she got to visit with them again and the pictures reminded me of my own childhood. Spending hours at their house playing, eating Yoplait lemon yogurt and zucchini (not together of course) and enjoying the people who were like grandparents to me. I can still smell the familiar and inviting aroma of their house. I know, I am weird in that most of my memories have a scent associated with them. Every one's house has its own fragrance. Ask anyone and they will tell you that even your own house has a smell...you are just there so much you don't notice it anymore. I am blessed by the relationship that Ruthie and Al had with me and now have with my children. Although we don't see them enough every time we do see them it is as if no time has passed at all. We love you Nonni and Gamp!

Landon was a little under the weather this weekend. When I picked him up from school on Friday he was coughing and drippy. He requested some chicken noodle soup for lunch and since that always makes me feel better when I am congested I couldn't turn him down.

Ashlyn has always been very artistic. This week she decided to draw a picture of her entire class. All twenty-nine kids and the teacher. She drew all the little heads first, counting to make sure she had the right amount. She used just about every color of the rainbow.

We did a little more baking this week. The kids ate the banana muffins warm from the oven and smothered with peanut butter.

And now...the rhinestone cowgirl...

Memejo had Ashlyn unbelievably in her element surrounded by a sea of tulle and sparkles in her favorite color.

and even a rhinestone cowgirl can be a hot mess at the end of a big day...

Hope your week is filled with wonderfully random moments!
