Pumpkin-filled field trip

Landon's kindergarten class had a field trip to the Smith Family Farm pumpkin patch this week.  I was able to go along to help which I was thrilled about.  I was not so thrilled when the teacher handed me a plastic grocery bag "just in case" someone gets car(bus) sick.  Thankfully, the bus ride to and from the pumpkin patch was uneventful.  Uneventful despite the fact that when we returned to the school and I was getting off the bus my shoe slipped and I basically exited the bus on my behind.  Don't worry, I survived with nothing but a bruised ego.

The farm has a corn maze, a hoedown, a hayride to the pumpkins, animals and of course, pumpkins!  The farm also has some unique scarecrows and the people who work there are always really friendly.

The animals were definitely a hit with Landon...

and everyone had a great time at the hoedown

The kids were really excited about the hayride out to the pumpkins.  We exited the hayride and searched for the perfect pumpkin while towering sunflowers smiled down on us.

The kids had a great time and when I asked Landon afterwards how he enjoyed the trip he said it was the best trip ever because they got to ride on a school bus and did I know that school buses don't have seat belts.

Ashlyn had Crazy Hair day this week as well.  She wanted lots of little pony tails with different colored bands.  She ended up with 18 ponytails.  She thought she looked SO crazy.  I was glad because most kids do spray painted hair and I had NO spray paint.  Here's our crazy girl...

This week was filled with so many activities including the pumpkin patch and at the end of each night we would just fall into our beds and allow sleep to envelope us.  Field trips, work meetings, art classes, choir, play dates at the park and girls night outs... just to name a few. As I was reading to Landon almost every night this week I watched as his eyes grew more and more heavy and knew that I probably wasn't going to finish the story we had started.

And on that note, I think I too will get some sleep!  Have a great weekend.
