Biker Chick!

Ever since Ashlyn got her bike for her 4th birthday two years ago, she has been riding with training wheels. She was a little wobbly and would get frustrated easily.

We decided that we were going to use our free Saturday to teach Ashlyn and maybe even Landon how to ride a bike. We figured that it would take her a while and than maybe by the end of the day she would be able to ride her bike with only one training wheel. Boy, were we wrong!!

We took one of her training wheels off and Ashlyn immediately started riding the bike by leaning over so the training wheel would keep her balanced. I explained to her that if she sat up straight she could ride without the training wheel. She watched me ride down the street so she could she what would happen if I was sitting up straight or leaning to one side. She got back on the bike and immediately sat up straight and the training wheel was history! She learned to ride, turn, and go up a driveway all by herself! We are so proud of our big girl!!!

Landon tried really hard to ride his bike. He got really frustrated and would leave the bike and use his scooter instead. He is really comfortable on the scooter. We mentioned that when he learns to ride his bike he and Ashlyn can ride around and have a ton of fun! This got him back on the bike.

Landon has always been a very observant child. Even when he was a baby you could see that he was just content to sit back and watch everything going on around him. Well, this is a bit of a problem when you are trying to ride a bike. Landon would be watching Ashlyn ride by him, watching daddy take videos of them, watching a random cat run across the street... so maybe once he gets the hang of watching where he is going he will do a little better. He had fun though!

Here is a video of Ashlyn riding her bike with no training wheels!
