a Christmas to remember...

Christmas Eve looked a little different this year. On Christmas Eves past we've spent the evening with Memejo & Dominic (check it out here and here and here) eating good food, playing games & laughing together.

This year was quiet but just as special. We opened our traditional Christmas Eve presents of new pajamas...
and settled down to watch The Polar Express...
Soon it was Christmas morning. The stockings were full & the house was warm. The aroma of warm cinnamon rolls filled the air...
and Landon slept through the whole thing...
Just kidding. We woke him up & we all ate a filling Christmas breakfast & opened presents together. I will say it is nice when your kids sleep in on Christmas morning instead of waking up before the dawn!

The day was cozy & lazy. We watched the Warriors (get slaughtered), had zoom Christmas calls with extended family who could not join us this year due to the pandemic, listened to Christmas music & prepared for Chris' delicious dinner...
Cranberry braised beef short rib...
Winter arugala salad with pomegranate, orange & pecans...
roasted asparagus...
creamy mashed potatoes...
and a flavorful rosemary focaccia bread baked by Ashlyn...
I know we missed our families, as I am sure many of you did as well. But the Lord filled us with His joy in the absence.
Such a great reminder that Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us. He doesn't leave us to walk through the loneliness or the messes alone. He is right there in the trenches with us. I know that truth firsthand as this Christmas not only did I celebrate His birth but I also celebrated being seizure-free for 15 years. And the Lord has never left my side.
