finding fall...

Living in California means we don't see a true fall. Many parts of the country are bracing themselves for cold fronts this week. In complete contrast, the September weather in California may start off cool in the morning but will generally become warm enough that you will inevitably regret whatever sweater or sweatshirt combination that you originally chose to wear.  Like this week when we are experiencing temperatures into the 90s.

We also aren't known for brilliantly colored trees in our neighborhood so this year my mom suggested a girl's road trip to "find fall".

We headed up to Chico to explore Bidwell Park which is known to have brightly colored leaves.

Ultimately we may have been a little early for the fiery displays of yellow, orange & red but we did see many other beautiful examples of God's handiwork...

I was particularly excited about the lines created by this overpass. Ashlyn loved the trees & woodland creatures painted on the pillars...

There are a lot of interesting things to be found along the walking trail. People on horseback,

a wedding photo shoot in a somewhat secluded grove of redwoods.

& signs that seem somewhat unnecessary...

We didn't miss fall altogether. We found a few spots of color...

with The Midway providing the most impressive revelation of fall...

We had such a sweet trip. Even if we didn't find many examples of fall, we got to spend time together. Three generations laughing, talking about life & sharing about the Lord & our faith in Him. Precious time & memories.

Happy Fall!
