Ashlyn's first concert experience...

Back in October Ashlyn got to go to her first real concert!  For the past few years we have been talking about how much we wanted to see Mat Kearney live.  Every single year when he came to the Bay Area we missed him.  This year I was determined to go & searched for tour dates just about every month.

My search paid off.  Mat Kearney was headlining a breast cancer awareness benefit concert at the intimate little Shakespeare Theater not too far from us.  I figured it was an amazing artist & a really cool venue! Win, win.  Or so I thought.

The concert was...interesting, to say the least.  The opening acts were somewhat strange & we quickly realized that the crowd was a bunch of winos.  We really only came to see Mat Kearney & had to endure a tiresome amount of quirky, strange artists & a geriatric mosh pit before he finally came on.  Olivia & I assured Ashlyn that this was NOT a normal concert experience.

But we all loved every minute of Mat's set.  He is such a down-to-earth guy & because of the small venue we were in the second row & only about 20 feet away from him as he performed.  It was so incredible to be so close & we sang at the top of our lungs to every song.
