cruisin, part 3...

Our first glimpse of Jamaica...

We decided not to do any excursions in Jamaica and visited the local shops instead.  There was a NINE hour Bob Marley tour that had us all laughing about what could possible fill that amount of time considering where he grew up was only 15 miles away from where the boat docked.  It's actually pretty funny if you think about it long enough.

Jamaica did have some breathtaking views.

The poverty that inflicts these countries is rarely seen from the compounds/resorts that we visited but if you look just outside the walls you can see it all too clearly.  Those flat-topped structures in the distance are people's houses.  It was easily over 90 degrees the day that we were in Jamaica with 80 percent humidity.  Those homes have tin roofs and it isn't hard to imagine how hot it must be inside.  Not to mention that my thoughts repeatedly went back to those frail homes when we heard that the hurricane had swept through that very area.
This trip was so refreshing.  Chris said it was the first time he has really been able to completely relax and unplug in years.  There are so many things I am going to miss.

Relaxing pool time...
Good poolside music...

Night time carousel rides...

People watching and crazy shoppers...
Getting dressed up with this guy...

Late night shenanigans...
Pool side treats & blended mojitos...
More shrimp cocktail than you could ever eat in one lifetime (although Chris and Brent may give it a shot)...
Warm tropical breezes & these lovely ladies...

and especially time spent with this guy...

After ten days I was eager to get home and see my kiddos.  And I only cried twice because I missed them so much while I was gone! When we pulled up to the house they were waiting outside with a "Welcome Home" sign that they made and Ashlyn even baked a gluten free chocolate cake to surpise us.

It was so good to have them in my arms again.  Vacations are a blessing but home is where I will always long to be.
