Chris and I cooked breakfast while the kids resumed lighting things on fire. They also indulged in some sugary cereals. When I was growing up we weren't allowed to have sweet and sugary cereal. The only exception was when we were camping. Pops and Cocoa Puffs were my favorites and any time I see the yellow and red Pops box and the smell of the sweetened corn cereal it reminds me of being a little kid.

We went for a little hike after we were finished with breakfast. The kids had already explored a small portion of this trail, which backed up to our campsite, a few times that morning and the previous evening.

Ashlyn told me this was her "wild" camping pose. It made an appearance a few times during the trip.

Chris thought it was fitting that Landon was wearing his "Rooted" Mt. Gilead church camp t-shirt while he was standing on the tree stump.

We took a little break while Ashlyn and Landon tried to figure out how old this tree had been before it was cut down.

We also saw some evidence of forest fires and trees that had been struck by lightening.

Trees are truly one of my favorite things. I love mature trees and looking up at the sky through the branches. We saw a wide variety of trees on our hike and enjoyed the shade that their branches provided. Tahoe always reminds me of the Creator and how His creation is truly magnificent. I recently read that considering His creation is so spectacular, and only demonstrates a small portion of His power, what an awesome God He is!
