last days of school...

School is finally out for the summer!  Woohoo!

Time for sleeping in, swimming, summer adventures and no school!  I think I might be just as excited about summer vacation as Ashlyn and Landon.

The last days of school were busy ones.  We had a full week with two birthdays, fifth grade promotion, two class parties, and a swim meet.  I'm exhausted just thinking back on it.  In addition to all the fun, I tweaked my back, couldn't move and was down for a few days.

Yeah, like every mother has time for that on the last week of school!

Ashlyn had her promotion ceremony last Wednesday and is now officially a sixth grader!  She did such an awesome job this year.  She worked really hard, read a TON and improved in every area.  Can you tell that we are proud of her?!  
Chris asked Ashlyn what she thought about the promotion ceremony and the only things that she had to say was that she loved the slide show of all the fifth graders and that the principal's hands were "really bony".

Landon's end-of-school party was the same day as Ashlyn's promotion.  I got to help out and it gave me a great opportunity to get some pictures of him during the relay portion of the party.  

He was giddy about being the first one in the relay.  He's so funny and is definitely my competitive kid.

He is now a big fourth grader.  He tried really hard this year and despite some obstacles and setbacks (that had nothing to do with him) he did a great job this year.  We are looking forward to the amazing fourth grade teachers next year.

Ashlyn's promotion happened to fall on her birthday.  Afterwards, all of the fifth graders were free to go home.  Chris took Ashlyn out to lunch at Benihana to celebrate both of their birthdays and her completion of elementary school.  

I love that Chris takes Ashlyn out on dates.  Ashlyn still remembers when she was three years old and he took her out to lunch and to the movies.  It makes me happy knowing that she has such a good memory of her first date ever.  No boy will ever be able to top a loving dad.
