The first few years of our marriage, I was in charge of the cooking. I still remember the first turkey I ever cooked in the condo in Sacramento. We had only been married for about six months and I had never taken on the enormous task of cooking an entire Thanksgiving meal. We had a small gathering that year but to my surprise the turkey actually turned out.
Since that time Chris has taken over the cooking. He enjoys it so much more than I ever did. I cooked out of necessity. Chris cooks out of the sheer joy he gets while creating each dish. Watching him in the kitchen is seeing him in his element.
Chris barbecued the turkey this year. Honestly, I think it was the best turkey I have ever eaten. It wasn't the least bit dry but was instead juicy and flavorful.
He never disappoints.
This year he was kind enough to create an entirely gluten free meal. He is so talented. If no one told you that the dinner was gluten free, you would never know. I think the cornbread stuffing was my favorite.
As always, I was in charge of dessert. This year, peanut butter chocolate pie…
Dinner was perfect. The rest of the day wasn't far behind.
