repeat post of Christmas memories...

I posted this a few years ago but it contains some of my favorite Christmas memories and I thought I would share it again.  Enjoy...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recently, I was thinking back to all the Christmases I have enjoyed and all the memories that stood out.  It wasn't the presents that I received that stood out in my mind (although I still remember the year I got an electric razor so I could finally shave my hairy Italian legs).  What stood out the most was the moments spent with family.  Here are some of my favorite moments in no particular order...
...our large family gatherings at my aunt Nettie's house and FINALLY making it to the adult table
...Making Christmas cookies with my mom and brother
...The year some friends of ours (including a boy I had a major crush on) stopped by on Christmas morning and I opened the door with curlers in my hair.
...Going to the movies with all of my cousins on Christmas day
...driving to the Santa Cruz mountains every year to cut down our Christmas tree and enjoying hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls after we found the perfect one
...The year my grandparents spent the night on Christmas eve and seeing my grandmother's crazy bed head in the morning
...watching the Christmas parade on TV
...the mixed tape my cousin Wendy made for me and that I still have to this day!
...The year my brother wrapped the present that he had purchased for me by himself for the first time.  After tearing off the wrapping paper I discovered that he had wrapped it in the bag from the store and the receipt was still inside.  (I love you Dommy!)
...decorating our house and our Christmas tree together as a family
...my brother and I ENDLESSLY waiting for my dad to use the bathroom, brush his teeth and make coffee on Christmas morning while we were dying to open presents.
...listening to the Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers Christmas tape called "Once Upon a Christmas".  Hearing those songs takes me right back to being a kid in my parent's house
...watching Christmas movies with my family
...marching in the Los Gatos Christmas Parade with my friends from my girl scout troop
...reading Christmas books at night before bed
...playing board games with all my cousins at my Aunt Tina's house and the laughter that ensued
...putting Christmas lights on the house with my dad and the year that the two of us went to Steve Young's house and put Christmas lights up for him
...my mom's Dickens Village
...my Aunt Tina's peanut butter and chocolate fudge and pecan tarts
...pushing my brother around in the giant containers that held our Christmas decorations (this was fun up until the point that we broke some of my mom's glass Christmas decorations and got in big trouble)
...enjoying my mother's Nativity set
...the year that Chris proposed to me
Now Chris and I are making new memories with our kids.  We are sharing with them the true reason that we celebrate Christmas so that they can carry that with them throughout their lives.  I know that when they get older they will look back and remember all the amazing Christmas memories that we shared as a family.  My hope is that you too are able to look back on some wonderful Christmas memories from your past.
A very Merry Christmas to you all!
