pumpkin carving...

The kids and I raced home from school on Monday in anticipation of carving into our pumpkins.  Landon has been asking if they can carve their pumpkins almost every day since we got them.  It is that child-like excitement that gets me into the holiday spirit every year.

Ashlyn is always really excited to carve her pumpkin...right up until the moment I remove the lid and she remembers that she has to stick her hand inside and scoop out the guts.  It is generally around this time that her excitement starts to decrease.

Landon dug right in and was determined to pick out all of the seeds for roasting.  He was even nice enough to help Ashlyn empty out her pumpkin.

I love catching a glimpse of holiday magic in my kid's eyes.  It brings back all of the thrill and adventure of my own childhood.  So tomorrow night a cheerleader and a Giant's baseball player will head out with the promise of holiday fun and sweets.  Until then...IMG_0014

What fun! By the way, I don't like the pumpkins guts either. I loved it when you and Dominic got the seeds and guts out though :D
