more Christmas...

A few years ago my dad got me a Willow Tree Nativity Set for Christmas.  I had always wanted my own Nativity set and I loved the simplicity of the Willow Tree figurines.  Every year I proudly arranged my Nativity set on the mantle.  I didn't have a stable in which to display them but I still loved it.

Last year, I asked my awesome and talented uncle, Ed, and he made a stable just for my Willow Tree Nativity set.  It is amazing and totally perfects the scene.

Isn't it beautiful?!  It is exactly what I wanted...simple, rustic, made from recycled wood...

I am pretty sure my uncle can make just about anything.  

The kids crowded around as I placed Mary and Joseph in the stable with baby Jesus.  I love that it gives us another opportunity to talk about the real reason that we celebrate Christmas.  Not the lights, the tree, the gifts...but the GREATEST gift of all.  This afternoon while doing his homework assignment entitled "The best thing about December is..." Landon gave the perfect answer, "The best thing about December is God."  I asked if he meant Jesus and he confidently stated, "Mom, Jesus IS God."

I am off to listen to more Christmas music, and drink a hot cup of cider but tell me, what is your favorite holiday decoration?
