Ashlyn and I were both worried for Landon. I know how Ashlyn reacts any time there are needles around. The last time required three adults to hold her down while her blood was drawn. Landon doesn't usually have an issue with shots or needles but I didn't know how he would react knowing he was getting a shot AND having his tooth pulled. Of course, he has already had some experience with getting shots at the dentist when he had his cavity filled and that was no big deal.
We got to the dentist's office and Landon got situated in the dentist's chair. The dentist wasted no time giving him the numbing cream on his gums. I was still anxious for Landon but the dentist had a full conversation with me before I realized that she was almost done administering the local anesthetic. Landon never made a sound! Good grief that kid is brave!
Here he is all drugged up...
Landon told Ashlyn that the shot didn't hurt at all. It just stung a little bit. No big deal.
The dentist has been telling Ashlyn for a couple of years now that she needs to be a pediatric dentist when she grows up. In order to get her started on the path to her future career the dentist gave Ashlyn some rubber gloves and told her she was going to help pull Landon's teeth. Ashlyn was scared to death that she was going to hurt Landon. She was brave (and so was Landon) and did a great job. A little twist and a pull and the teeth were out! Easy peezy lemon squeezy!
It turned out that Landon's adult tooth came in too far back so it never dissolved the roots of the baby teeth. The dentist pulled both of his lower front teeth and Landon had full roots on both teeth! No wonder his teeth weren't very wiggly!
This was the best picture I could get of Landon showing off his new window. I know it looks like he is on drugs of some sort but I assure you he wasn't. In fact, this picture was taken the morning after the teeth were pulled! I took 7 different pictures and this was the best I could get!

Landon looks so different without his two front teeth. He sounds a lot different too. A little like this.
Today I was talking to Chris about how difficult it is to get Landon to do his homework. I made the figure of speech that getting Landon to do homework is like pulling teeth. I then had to correct myself because pulling teeth is easy with Landon. Homework...not so much.

Ahahahahahaha! I loved the Gopher reference - hilarious! And I don't think I've ever heard of a kid that didn't freak at the dentist. A big shout out to Landon :) GREAT JOB!!!
